Enjoying it so far. It's been a while since I read some climate dystopian fiction.

Just finished STAG DANCE and it was a slog to get through. The writing tries to be too clever most of the time and I'm pretty sick of the trans girl self-hatred that's integral to each story. I feel like a bad queer for not liking this book.

I came into this book with wrong expectations. I expected lofty literary writing with flourishes and curlicues and was disappointed when I didn't get it. Once I reframed this book from literary fiction to horror genre writing I immediately forgave it for the delighted torture it's put me through.

Still not entirely sold on it yet, though. I haven't found the beauty in its frank prose yet (skill issue perhaps?).

Izzy is 70% done with Raise High the Roof Beam, Carpenters & Seymour: An Introduction
Raise High the Roof Beam, Carpenters was pretty alright, but Seymour, an Introduction annoys me to no end. While Salinger is a good stylist, I am unfortunately over 30 and am thus impervious to his navel-gazing. A shame, since I remember liking The Catcher in the Rye, but maybe Franny and Zooey is a better read?

Raise High the Roof Beam, Carpenters was pretty alright, but boy howdy does Seymour, an Introduction suck ass. I'm around 40% of the way through it and man is it masturbatory. My patience for loser authors grows thinner every page I read. Sorry to the Salinger lovers out there! I'm in my 30s now.
