Needed a comfort read after the last experience, and though I've only read this once before it feels so much like coming home! <3

Decided to dnf. See me last update for reasons...
Read some spoilers for the end when searching for reviews validating my feelings and decided it's not worth my time. I'm SO DISAPPOINTED.

WTF!!!
This book wasn't easy to begin with, seeing the historians visit Troy when it falls. The descriptions stay somewhat veiled, but it was still a tough bit.
But then.

The "love" story pretty much annoyed me throughout, as there are so many toxic bits of behavior that aren't addressed. This time, though? Consensual sex turning r*pe??? WTF!! I'm so pissed off.

I was quite bored for the first hundred pages, and very annoyed and disappointed by that because I had looked forward to this book so much. I considered not finishing it, but kept going for a bit and it got considerably more entertaining. Not as good as Bookshops and Bonedust, which I really liked, but nice enough to keep going.

I'm LOVING this!!

I had such high hopes, and maybe it will still deliver, but so far the book is very superficial and thin on techniques and inspiration. We'll see - maybe there will still be some helpful things and techniques in there!

This is so weird, creepy and gorgeous!

Reading this because of a recommendation. Was reluctant at first because romance is not really my thing (especially het romance laden with stereotypes), but it's been okay up to now and I'm here for the mystery, Egypt and archaeology - which are well written and mostly well researched. I also kinda like how magic works here, and how it's subtly integrated into a world that's otherwise much like ours.

It had a slow bit shortly after the start, but has become so intriguing, and I have theories, and am excited to learn how they might all be wrong:-D

Found this in a second hand book shop in Valencia and thought it might be a nice read for our upcoming journey to Valencia. Somewhere it said cozy mystery, and Dartmoor always gets me - so I didn't hesitate to buy. Fun fact: it's set about 15 km from where I spent 3 months when I was about 16 years old and did a time abroad kind of thing. I'm still in love with the region and think back fondly.

Not at all what I expected from the title and description, though I think it was the title and my mental response to it that misinformed my interpretation of the description. I expected some cosmic horror thing, which at least until now it is not - but it's amazing! So well set up, such interesting takes and really well written.
