So Bryan is taking the cake as the most hated MMC I’ve read by Nia. Hard task of course, bc we know complex her characters. But Bryan takes the cake really because he is so damn selfish. The right thing to do is to leave his wife. But that’s hard! And that’s why he’s not doing it. There is no other reason for than that

So sensitive to child suicide so starting this book with one worries me, esp w/ a queer character

Y’all know Mia from The Best Man? Okay so that’s Regina, conveniently never forced to face her own hoeishness. And Maddy, her OTHER child, is more conveniently missing from the story so you aren’t forced to face the grand nature of the betrayal of her husband.

All of these skintone mentions are so cringe

Just need to add there is a lot of slurs in this one - free use of the “r” word & repeatedly
