made the executive decision to read along with an audio book and it reminds me of when I was reading pride and prejudice the same way, i love u full immersion

how meaningless is it for all of that suffering for the gladers to happen over 200 pages and then the second thomas gets hurt WICKED sends in people to save him. hello? am I reading this correctly? i understand its an experiment but oh my fucking goodness. back to back ridiculousness in this book. things happen to Thomas and theres just nothing he can do

may or may not be reading this for twisted wonderland because i am primary source kinda guy lmfao. i even watched the 1951 movie which i haven't watched in ages, and i was kinda surprised by the card soldier introduction and how impressive that bit of animation was.

read the intro tonight. so far castillo sets the tone by addressing who this is for: literate people who read books but also everyone else who "reads" in their daily lives, watches film, TV, engages in the world, etc. very curious to see where the book goes. but can i just say i did wince at the amount of em-dashes. sue me, i think we can cut back to 2-3 on a page.

last night I searched up the words I dont know from this book (an old professor made us keep a journal doing this as an assignment) and afterwards, checked the word-of-the-day's out of curiosity. the way I saw the word of the day for the very first day of the year, amortization, in today's chapter!! i swear to god if u saw my face my eyes FLEW open and I ran to tell my sister who just called me a nerd BUT HELLO???

since I took a break from books for two months I'm going to ease back in by rereading something:) just grabbed from my shelf this morning to hit the ground running.. also got to pick up 2 books on hold at the library today lol

i finished the trilogy of his dark materials late last year and told myself i'd eventually get to the second trilogy, the book of dust. a year-ish later we are ready to gooo (totally not influenced by the fact that the last book was released last month so i don't have to wait on a cliffhanger)

they put those maze runner movies on netflix and im thanking god for it bc now my younger brother actually wants to read them (hes 15 and never reads)
