This doesn’t happen very often... I have a banded the book 😳 It’s not not keeping me interested, and for such a huge book it needs to.

Heading for 5* already!

I’m hooked!! Begrudgingly putting it down to get some sleep. Love the setting in little old Brisbane.

Had to take the book back to the library and can’t reborrow again 😩 Have to wait a little while to finish it.

I’ve had to pause my reading beachside the eBook loan expired 😩 The only downfall with borrowing eNooks over paper books from the library is that you can’t automatically renew them. 😢

After reading three ‘meh’ books in a row, I’m hoping this one is going to hook me in and take me on a journey. After reading the blurb, I’m wondering if this will be like the story from the mini-series ‘After the Deluge’ from the early 00’s

As predicted, I absolutely love this book. Everything about it appeals to me; the setting, the writing style, the depth of the story. The only sad thing is that is didn’t take long to read... I purposefully haven’t finished it yet just so that I can stretch it out a bit longer :)

A lovely read so far. Great imagery in places... this one I love: ‘Gradually, lives wove together once again into a practical sort of fabric in which every thread crossed and re-crossed the others through school and work and marriage, embroidering connections invisible to those not from the town. And Janus Rock... dangled off the edge of the cloth like a loose button...’

Oh my word! So much beautiful, clever writing that I’ve had to start a reading journal so I never forget it! The best first chapter I have ever read... totally drew me in.

Totally hooked!

Loving it nearly as much as the first book.
