I was just about to give up on this book, thinking “this is fine, but it’s not wow-ing me with anything unique” and then WHAM. What an …interesting… second act transition. I’m now very intrigued and compelled.

This has a different feeling to it than the first one—it’s subtle, but I can’t help but notice it. (Downsides of reading them one after the other, maybe?) It’s still very good but I wish I wasn’t distracted by that.
