Liked the overall dark mood. Liked the plot and character building until both abruptly cut off.

Reading a new genre for Nina LaCour had me positive I’d be moved reading anything she wrote. I loved her YA and I love this one even more. She evokes all the emotions just by writing in her own style. This story was complicated and intertwined, sad and beautiful

I already knew Julia Whelan could narrate a cookbook and I’d be sucked in but this author narrator combination did me in.

The rom com formula usually contains some misunderstanding between the couple, made worse by not communicating and assuming each other’s intentions, that I find frustrating. (Yet still doesn’t stop me from coming back for more.) This rom com was very heavy on that element, very heavy…

3.5 loved the dark writing style, didn’t love the plot as much

Not my favorite Tana book, but it has a lot of the things that I like in her books. Immersion, grit, details, complex characters.

And she discovered signup genius!

This woman really needs to employ the use of signup geniuses! #justsaying But then again this book would be missing some fodder for her funny situations if she did...

Heartbreaking, sad, real, frustrating, touching, scary.

Not my first time through this one or most of Anthony Bourdain’s other books, but my first time through knowing there won’t be any more words coming from him. I’m feeling a little sad about that.
