Reading a new genre for Nina LaCour had me positive I’d be moved reading anything she wrote. I loved her YA and I love this one even more. She evokes all the emotions just by writing in her own style. This story was complicated and intertwined, sad and beautiful
I already knew Julia Whelan could narrate a cookbook and I’d be sucked in but this author narrator combination did me in.

I love how different books hit people differently. I had high hopes for this one myself, but it came off surface level for me like a YA. I keep hearing about the narrator and I wonder if that could have added to my experience. Yay for a rare 5 star for you!
