This is genuinely sad. Like I’m actually feeling like I might cry.

This is absolutely amazing. I am genuinely loving this so far.

Three novels into this series, and I really love how each family that we’ve been following is so different from each other, and they all show how they love and care for each other differently. Not since Cynthia Voigt (and perhaps my mother’s Victoria series) have I wholeheartedly believed in the relationships between characters. I love it so much.

This might be the first book I’ve ever read that makes me want to go to Florida.

This book just made me laugh out loud. I absolutely love it.

I might have to see the movie and musical of this book. But how can they possibly be as good?

“Who care’s”? Who care’s?! Are you kidding me?! How can you fuck that up, first of all, and second of all, even if the two authors didn’t catch that, HOW DID THE EDITOR AND THE EDITORIAL ASSISTANT MISS THAT? I’m sorry to yell, but this drives me batty. Oh boy.

I am so throughly enjoying myself.

I genuinely did not see that coming.

It’s so funny how this bit should not work, but it does. The writing is earnest and heartfelt; I really believe in the characters and their feelings. I really do think this author has genuine talent and passion.

Okay, that was a very cute childhood story. I like Mike, I really do.

That was the most childish joke ever but I’m laughing at it.

Oh, this is fun! We’ve got Mad Max: Fury Road four years before that movie came out! Oh man, this is great!

I see we’re going the Marvel/DC movie route. Dangerous situation? Might get killed any second? Perfect time to joke around! It’s so eye-rolling but I love it. Mostly in an ironic way, but I do love it.

I knew that joke was coming! Oh my gosh. Just a PSA for anyone interested in reading this or Megan Cole’s other book, Fortune: do not go into it expecting great literature. Expect a fun time, expect some surprisingly great bits of character growth, but also expect to be either rolling your eyes or laughing out loud A LOT. It’s genuinely fascinating.

This is giving Totally Spies vibes and I’m kind of here for it.

Two mentions of iPhones already! The brand names strike again. But it doesn’t annoy me like it would in other books.

Much like its predecessor, I can’t tell if this is supposed to be ironic or not. That’s not a complaint; this is already a riot of a book.

Ooo, I just got goosebumps. I love it when a book can do that. It doesn’t happen often.

What is wrong with me that this book is making me cry? I’m really, really loving this.

I’m really liking this book, but I just wish we didn’t have to do this bullshit every time. Why does every lesbian story have to dance around men and coming out and all that shit? Why is it only Nicola Griffith who doesn’t do that? I’m just kind of tired of it.

Pretty sure he just gave all of his translators a shout-out. That was very nice of him.

This is so unendingly bleak and depressing.

I do wonder if I’d get more out of this if I were from Spain. A lot of this book feels like a “Take that!” at the Spanish government.

This is like parody-level! It’s as if he’s actively trying to write the most depressing piece of fiction imaginable!
