In my short story era… the first story was so intense. i love that this book includes afterwords—getting a little peak inside butler’s beautiful brain is sublime

things got a little bit boring for like 40 pages but immediately sucked me back in lol

I don’t want to finish this book because I don’t want it to be over. This section is so intensely good. The sense of mounting foreboding has me rereading paragraphs just to keep feeling the sensations they evoke. Each chapter feels crystalline and complete. I’m in awe.

this book is becoming like a succession of tumblr toxic yuriposting type scenes strung together for the sake of having tunblr toxic yuriposting scenes in a way that is boring meeee... like girl come up with some toxic yuri that doesn't sound like an average tumblr sexy knight light bdsm yuripost

maybe it's because i'm incredibly spoiled by gormenghast rn but the prose in this book is sooo generic fantasy-y...it's mostly fine but sometimes people say things like "okay" and it takes me out of it lol

going to read this bc the premise does seem fun but i have to say..."medieval europe except less misogynistic and with a made-up alternative to christianity" is like...one of the most boring choices for a fantasy setting imo
