I can only focus on audiobooks right now. But every historian gay should read this book. I'm actually learning a lot I haven't read before. So its really good.

I just realized its less that I enjoyed the stories of Hemingway and Great Gatsby when reading them for school and more just that at that time writers had such beautiful pose. After reading one page I think Baldwin could write about literally anything and I would say its the best shit ever.

"Turns out that being closeted is bad for you. Shocking, I know." (88) I hate to be that guy, but this comes across as incredibly naive. Being in the closet can equal survival and allow someone to get a job they would otherwise not have (even in my modern personal experience)To make a generalization like this ignores the reality of what being in the closet has meant and means in our queer culture and others.

Oh boy! A science fiction detective novel thats queer! And set in an area I lived around. How sad would it be if I hated it.

Guessing on percentage because I'm listening to a CD audiobook. Number ten of fourteen. I was very pleased at the reference to Pennywise. I can imagine Hill asking: "hey dad....can I reference your book It in my book about an energy vampire taking kids to christmasland?"

Well this is tough to read post pandemic. I don't think I could have read it sooner than 5 years after COVID started. I'm surprised I never heard anyone talking about this book during that time. And now I know why King had a quote about Wyndham on newer editions of the latters work. He must have read Day of the Triffids.

I found the gay! I'm so happy one of my favorite living authors is featuring LGBT characters. This is very different than other stuff she's written, other than the fact that all the books I've read of hers take place in the past. But I'm loving it still.

I was alarmed to find my copy is an original. So I'm reading it slowly and delicately. Its a paperback and in very good condition, so I am scared to damage it. I thought I had all the ERB books I wanted. But this is a series it seems so now I gotta look for the others.

The Raft is terrifying! Definitely in the top three of the stories I've read in it so far.

Really bothers me how pushy Taylor is to get Emmett to date. Reminds me of an manipulative ex who would nag me into wanting something and then when I snapped out out it and said "no" would say "but before you said you did want it!" For all the mature things about dating and love she says its weird she isn't being any good around Emmett's boundaries.

Shusterman is such a master world builder. Bro should teach classes on the subject, its what writers should aspire to.
Reading this for therapy work but its hard to walk away from because its just so good XD
