The author has written this novel with the express purpose of hitting every note required for a fantasy romance: two men, one dark and older, one blonde and younger, with opposite characteristics; ves, two children, one pregnancy; a movie (with no plot described) that brings the men together. Prose is highly exaggerated to evoke the most emotional responses.

No one. Captures the subtleties of relationships as well as JN. Aiden nd Matt are unsympathetic until their feelings begin to emerge. Slow build, such a surprise to become involved in their progress.

DNF. Best friends unaware each in love with other, same old trope. Flowery imagery of fireflies just adds to the treacle.

DNF. Tried and failed, not my preferred style of writing.

DNF. Did not like the two leads. References to old age were just lame. And the mystery didn’t interest me.

Predictable, thin, Ian not fleshed out. Annoying flashbacks and flash forward device to strengthen weak writing.

Writing style is clunky but heartfelt. Too many tangents that don’t fit, like mother in nursing home and horse riding.

The parents are clumsily written

Beautiful descriptions of sex! Complex characters written slowly. Timing of parents’ gala really off. The flow is bumpy but I have stayed engaged.
