Still waiting for there to be a bad story in this. I am now afraid I will be horribly disappointed by like the second to last story or something after enjoying all of the rest.

This book keeps making me almost miss my stop.

Well this has certainly started with a bang.

Huh, I realised I've read 4 authors from this collection already before even starting this. That's sort of cool, but clearly have plenty of space (HAH!) left to widen my horizons (HAAAH!) more.

I don't know how I never knew this is a short story collection, not a novel. And that the King in Yellow is only mentioned in the first few stories in it, too.

I've definitely learned what are a few of my icks reading this by now.

I am pretty sure I'm legally obligated to enjoy a science book that makes a casual Blade Runner reference.

Reading this in bite size chunks was definitely a good choice, there is already surprisingly much repetition in these stories. Not really that surprising, I guess.

The things you learn in this book... about ducks and hyenas and spiders. Some I knew, some I did not.

I've got a few chuckles out of this. Also makes me feel like I should get back into studying Japanese.

I'm still trying to decide if this book makes me feel more depressed or hopeful. I guess the positive just doesn't feel quite realistic with the news we have been bombarded with in the last few years.

I still don't quite understand poetry, but the short stories in this book are mostly very, very good.

I feel like watching the news right now proves genocide is still doing a lot better than I'd hope based on this book... we're really going backwards again, aren't we.

Literacy is important! Even the big smart man agrees!

Not sure if you know this but humans are scary and horrible.

I love the way this is written but it is becoming more and more painful to read every page due to the subject matter.

I'm already realising I barely remember the first stories based on their names... despite liking quite a few of them, too.
