Very dark Australian humor and perhaps best described as a modern Gothic comedy. I'm glad I picked this up (at a used bookstore in Oz, no less), but thankful I'm through it.

Wow. Just...wow.

Sightly repetitive, and the first half is pretty slow. Storyline picks up around halfway through and the remainder of the novel is more of the fast-paced courtroom drama novel you would expect.

Not a sophisticated writing style by any means, but the storyline is a page turner.

Not bad. Slow start but picks up halfway through. There are some obvious weaknesses--primarily with Vanessa's character--but this is escapist fiction, and it was great for a beach read.

This is an epic novel--the kind you continue to carry with you in your thoughts and becomes even more meaningful to you as you gain life experiences.
