This classic is modern for me, as then women and girls were finding their worth beyond looks, and support to others. The writing is excellent, neither cloying or silly. Revealing.
Lots of plot platforms that parallel with girls and women today. WORTHY.

Amazing. The second reading, after at least 50 years underscores why this book endures. Beautiful the second time around!

This story is authentic and painful for anyone on the sidelines of bipolar, or ADHD, modern depression. And therefore it is hugely valuable, in this new normal world. It is a bit brutal, meaning very REAL.
Just be prepared for hard situations and solutions. Helpful to anyone who is struggling to understand a loved one who is experiencing mental illness without a pill or set path to cure.

Required reading for a shot of optimism for our future, and a deep dive of historical fact with emotion and intellect that informs and reminds. A page turner for those who need and want to remember. DKG, you have a movie script or a series here. We THOUGHT we knew what happened. We only knew a slice. Thank you for bringing on the whole cake. I wish I knew you both!

This book is dynamite. Engaging others, with genuine interest is always a good goal, Mr. Brooks adds tools without sermons. And stories to add layered thinking about deeper conversations and relationships. AMAZING!

Brilliant. The then and now story of the author’s life and how she changed her mind in order to thrive- priceless.

This book is an unanticipated delight. The dark realities of the Nazi death camps are NOT the story. The mindset of choice is.
Run to read it, give it, read it again.
Moving, brilliant and TRUE!

This is an outstanding read, beautifully elegant in translating loss to new adventure.
Wistful longing against purposeful change embrace the dichotomy of “going” while wanting to stay.
The emotional investment in making your home, life’s centrally happy anchor, is a sweet romance of place.
