Maybe it’s just me, but I’m incredibly bored. Where is the world building? I’m over 200 pages in and I know nothing about this world or these characters.

I know I’m late to the party with this one, but it’s never too late to hate on unnecessary OW drama. So pointless in this book and actually killed my momentum.

I don’t always fangirl over authors, but everything Karin Slaughter writes is freaking gold. I love her characters so much.

I am struggling to get into this book. First of all, everyone gushing about the world-building and it being based in New Orleans… puh-lease. It could’ve been based in New Guinea for all of the detail they actually gave to the NOLA setting. Also, what is the time period?! I’m getting historical vibes but the character’s speech patterns are too modern. It’s a mess.

I’m really struggling with the concept that the FMC would choose an AI male counterpart over an actual human. It’s gross and I can’t get past it. Even something as basic as a kiss feels disgusting to me.

The MFC is a criminal prosecutor. At a private firm. Make that make sense. This is one more stupid plot hole away from being a DNF for me.

Is nobody bothered that these grown ass men are lusting over what they’ve identified as a 15 or 16 year old boy?! How has no one mentioned how fucking gross this is as a plot point? I don’t care that in reality it’s a 20 year old young woman. Talon sexually assaults what he thinks is a 15 y/o boy and fantasizes about competing the act! WTF?!

This one is a bit of a slog. It’s all over the place and I’m struggling to get through it.

What the hell just happened? Why do so many male authors have to describe female side characters by either how much or how little they rank on the ‘fuckable’ scale?! Also, within 10 minutes of meeting a questionable witness he sleeps with her?!

This is the worst representation of college life I have ever read. Seriously, these characters are all the children of famous actors and athletes but it’s too expensive to live in a form so they all live at home with their parents? Is this a community college? So stupid.

Jesus, the nicknames and extended cast of characters is freaking exhausting.

Ughhhhh. Leah’s virtue signaling and the subsequent actions of Dain in response are vomit inducing. I’m really starting to hate Leah.

Jesus, enough with the pop culture references already.

I’m not sure this writing style is for me. Almost 80 pages of pure dialogue. Not even long, expansive dialogue but one liners. It’s just random characters quipping to each other. The Stuff Your Kindle day has delivered quite a few lemons this month. 🫠

There have been 8 characters introduced who are completely unnecessary to the plot, and 120ish pages with a total of maybe 5 pages of plot progression. I get that this is a spin-off series, but it’s not necessary to recap every connection from the previous series. Rather than intriguing me into reading more from this author, it’s about to make me DNF this book.

The word, ‘tech’, or some such derivative has been used 50 times in the first 89 pages of this book. Surely it’ll taper off soon.

I’ve been trying to give this author the benefit of the doubt, but the resemblance to The Deal by Elle Kennedy is just too much. I mean, really. It’s gotten a bit ridiculous. I can’t believe she hasn’t been called out on plagiarism.

Why is the h so stupid? She’s supposed to be keeping the H’s existence a secret and she blurted it out to two people she’s not very close with, and then drunkenly told another. WTF am I reading?

Talk about instalove. It went from zero to I’ve love you since I was 10 years old in one page. 🧐

Five POV for this book. I fell in love with this series because of the relationship between Brexley and Warrick. It’s a bold move to push forward so many new relationships in a season finale. Not loving this idea.

I’m not being hyperbolic when I say that my two youngest boys have a 13 y/o friend who speaks and acts EXACTLY like Evie. After an afternoon with this kid they are always exhausted, and inevitably let down. At least one of them will say, “It’s cool that he likes something that much, but that’s ALL he likes.” They’re bored after about 30 minutes. Now, imagine that kid as a 30 y/o adult. 😳

Ick. What the hell am I even reading? Are these even the same characters as the first two books?

I get that it’s important to have a positive female relationship in a supportive role, but Cinth’s character is not fitting the bill.

They’re literally in the middle of a war, and she’s wanting relationship advice. She’s a great cook, with big boobs, she always wants to gossip about relationships, and all of the boys drool over her… she is every awful female stereotype rolled into one character. Yuck.

I love this author but I’m really struggling to connect with the h and H. I think the concept is fantastic, but unfortunately there is no chemistry between the MCs. I’m not out yet, but it’s close.

This book is 98% shitty dialogue and pre-pubescent one-liners. I’ve probably skimmed 30% by this point and I’m still losing interest.

Allie, a self-identified psychology major - during her 1st day as a freshman is college 🙄- proceeds to publicly dissect and “analyze” the H in an extremely demeaning way. Me, an actual psychologist, hating every single fucking word of this ridiculous interaction, as well as the abhorrent lack of boundaries and ethics of the h. This one is going to be a hard sell for me.
