The brothers Gwynne convinced me to pick this novel with their Youtube review.

I am liking this a lot.
So much in fact that I have ordered the Folio Society edition of this book and I am going to pause my reading until I can continue it on that edition,,,

I last read this 30 years ago and it was a french translation.
All this to say I don't remember a thing...

So far it's great, makes me want to re-read the first trilogy.

I was going to lem this after 5 stories I really didn't enjoy or care for and them I came upon "the Diary of the rose" and it has enough redeeming quality to keep me going. Still so far I will say the quality of the stories is really uneven....

Why did I wait so long to read this and why wasn't it in every best of the year list for 2020 ?

So far it has been a breath of fresh air..

I am only 60% through but there is no doubt in my mind that is the best book I read this year.

This is part of my new project to reread the books I really enjoyed and gave 5 stars and that I hardly remember. Reading the last Gavriel Kay gave me that idea when I realized I had read all his novels and he only write one every 2-3 years and I wasn't ready for such a long wait, and then I realized I miss more than his books.. Since I got this on sale for kindle I will start with this one

Just read chapter 7 and it's really key.
Before that I had troubles connecting with the book but that chapter provides the whole backstory for Alex and really puts the book under a new light. So if you are struggling with this book, Try to make it to chapter 7 at least !

I am going to have to lem this.
I fought through the first book, I am now 12% through the second and it's not drawing me in.
Maybe because I read other things at the same time but I have trouble remembering who is who and I don't really like the writing style...
