There' not much reason to love Ollie--except that McBain shows bits of inside Ollie along the way that are endearing. And Ollie loves Steve Carealla, and so do I. Sadly, his softer moments don't make up for the Ollie he shows to the world, but he's still winning me over.

After a plethora of dual timeline mysteries/thrillers, I was hungry for a straightforward mystery with quirky characters. Enter Mrs. Pargeter! At least this far in, I'm wallowing! (And grateful it's a long-ish series!)
