“So grouped the curtain falls upon Meg, Jo, Beth and Amy. Whether it ever rises again, depends upon the reception given to the first act of the domestic drama, called Little Women.” The story must’ve sold well since the story continued with a second act. I think Laurie’s prediction about Jo will turn out to be true.

This is gonna be good! I liked Daisy straight off. And it’s going against the grain as far as what’s normal for children’s fantasy. Daisy’s mom! This also seems to be an interesting mix of real-world and portal fantasy. The series takes place in the real world and present time but there’s hints of magic…involving plants. But no real magic yet! A dude with a last name like that is going to be shady.

I cannot tolerate these characters. They are pretentious, boojie as hell, and disdain other people yet they cannot handle their own business. It’s bizarre! I would have told Bunny to kiss my black ass a long time ago! How is that so hard? I cannot believe these dummies let things go that far! Is there something I’m missing here?! Why are they so stupid?! It’s driving me nuts!

Chapters 10-12 were the best so far. The girls trying to fend for themselves, to include cooking, was VERY funny! Sitcom hijinks. The Rigmarole game was great too and the story ended up being utterly ridiculous in the best way. Mermaids and headless men in a tin box. This book is very World Masterpiece Theater and there’s no real drama whatsoever. Reading in small chunks is working for me for now, though.

A Day In The Life of the March girls continues. And I’m trying to imagine a neighborhood where a shabby house is right next door to a mansion. Laurie becomes a family friend and Beth overcomes her shyness a bit to everyone’s shock. The best parts so far are the scenes with Jo and Laurie.

I’m taking it off hold for the second time. I need to read something else while I’m going through Little Women. I’ll try to get through it this time! I think Bunny is doing some blackmailing. Tartt is a great writer, but she’s clearly in love with her own writing. This book is almost overwritten. It’s nothing as bad as the prologue in Summer of Night but bad enough.

Just finished the third chapter. The girls have a lot of times on their hands. And they’re generous, too. I liked the play. Heh, did Jo write that whole thing by herself? This seems like a slice of life work which I’m not really in the mood for right now. But I’ll read three chapters a day and I’ll put it on hold if need be.

I was just minding my own business, reading The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo and then…BAM! Spoiler for Little Women! So it’s about time I finally read it since I had the book for awhile. Just finished the first chapter. Jo considers herself the man of the house. I like her the most. I think she’s the one that Evelyn plays. Celia played Beth, who seems to have her head in the clouds most of the time.

Even baby dragons are dangerous! Ramoth the baby golden dragon. No wings yet. I just started part II. Not book two. Part II of book 1. This Searching involved baby dragons choosing boys. So girls AREN’T required then? There are male dragonriders because L and N are riders and they have apostrophes in their name. Maybe it’s a mate thing?

Done. I like the time period and Reid does a great job illustrating the different kinds of love. It’s also fast-paced and entertaining. The problems I had with is the way the author forces things down the reader’s throat, as if she had some chips on her shoulder and used the story to get it out. Because if this, the dialogue between Evelyn and Monique felt unnatural. Three stars.

Celia gets on my nerves. Is she serious? Causing all this fake drama because she’s petty! Unbelievable. Husband #6 is wrapping up and I’m heading into the last one. Husband #7 is gonna be a repeat of husband #4, that Rex guy. I like Evelyn’s personality, though her dialogue with Monique is forced sometimes. Monique apologized to her…what…three times now. That’s the author getting in her own way!

The best relationship in this book is between Evelyn and Harry. It’s written very well. Heh, it reminds me of a very good friend of mine who married her best friend (who’s white and interested in me) so she could be dependent BAH.

Just started with husband #3. Well this book ain’t boring. I’ll give it that. It’s a teeny bit preachy and very predictable. And I’m sure I already know all the story beats, but other than that, it’s light, entertaining reading. I’m gonna read Little Women after this. I never read it, but I own it and this book manages to spoil it a bit!

Read the first three chapters. This is way out of my zone…seems like chic lit so far and I don’t read that. I’m thinking that Monique is going to have a bone to pick with her parents when the interview is over. Weird that Hollywood glamor is considered the 60s in this book. I always thought it was 30s-50s. I wanna get to that part as I was always interested in old timey Hollywood. Eve=Elizabeth Taylor? Heh.

Finished The Wedding Gig. It was better than what I’ve read so far, but there was no real payoff. The story takes place in the 1930s and the narrator notes that those that are different (black people, grossly obese women) go through some real mess that he can never understand and he feels he can’t do anything about it. BLAH!!!! Where’s the horror?!!??? I WANT HORROR DAMMIT!!!

Finished Cain Rose Up. Didn’t like that was either. Maybe the stories I’m picking are TOO short? They are less than 10 pages. Next up is The Wedding Gig. That one’s 17 pages and will be the last story for the day.

I’m gonna read a few of the stories that are 20 pages or less that I can knock out today. I started off with For Owen which is a one-page poem about his son going to school….with fruit….yeah King should stick to prose. Poetry ain’t his strong suit. Then I read Here There Be Tygers and…no. So far, these two things are the worse things I read from King so far. Cain Rose Up is next.
