Second attempt to read this book. Hope it sticks this time

Finally, some answers 👏
I'm starting to put things together, but not completely fitting. The mystery is intriguing

I overestimated this book qua enjoyment. There is a lot of new information, but also a lot of repeating of text (son this, king of that,...) that seem to hinder the story and give the impression that the writer needed to hit a certain word count. The old English is not helping.

This is not reading smoothly at all, so I'll probably dnf it...

Ptsd is a big factor in this book, I can already tell. Hope it is as good as the first one, with +600 pages. Also, Lucien is still awesome

This manchild, I lost all sympathy for him, as for his monster of a father.
This is not a romance, this is a train wreck from start to finish

I just wish someone would listen to the story of the gargoyle. I also have a suspicion where the diviners end up... Really like the MMC, not particularly the FMC but not bad, and the side characters are great

Reading the Dutch version, and really interesting 👍

At this point, I'm just speed reading for the small interesting plot, as the love part of the story makes me cringe hard 😬

Either Catherine has Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) or schizophrenia 🤔
This classic is less entertaining than Frankenstein. The sentences are structured more erratically (that's the feeling I have when I read this), and I'm struggling half the time with what and who they are referring to.
