Pirate is on page 61 of 268 of Polysecure: Attachment, Trauma and Consensual Nonmonogamy
Author references Ken Wilber and Integral Theory. This is a good sign.

Relationships are hard. Feeling roughed up by this book, and that’s probably a healthy thing.

ADHD means always starting a new book before finishing the last one. 🫤

Also, feeling attacked and personally called out by words on a page is probably a sign I should keep reading.

I’ve seen lots of reviews commenting on how they don’t like Kathe Koja’s writing style.

It reminds me of Raymond Chandler and Dashiel Hammett, early 20th C hard boiled detective fiction. It’s heavy on vibes and atmosphere. Either you dig it or you don’t. I Love it.

I read this for the first time back in the late 1900s when it first came out, and it hit me like a a brick. Returning to it as an older, slower version of the young man who was so taken with the intensity of it at the time.

I remember this as a book about bodies and obsession and art, industrial tools and metal fabrication, love, bodies in motion, violence, and bleeding flesh.

I have come to believe that everybody has some stripe of 🌶️ romance that works for them.
And most of us are gonna be hella surprised we discover the one that clicks.
Just sayin. 😉

Seen this reviewed as “Dark, but not toxic”.

To quote Bill Hicks… “F*@k it; found my brand.”

I tried the “Monsterf*cker” romances, but they didn’t click. I think I worried about worldbuilding too much.

I know how social media and hospitals work, so with this I can just delve into the dysfunctional relationship and smut.

Liking it so far.

as someone who has been a lifelong reader fantasy and Science Fiction, I’m finding it interesting how much I’m into this book. Which may be one of the least fantastic stories. I have read in a while.
Yes, I’ve seen the movie, yes, we’re talking about an authenticating a book that is possibly co authored by Satan.
But overall it’s just got a very detective story vibe to it and I’m digging it

I find that I’m enjoying the bookish, bibliographic catalog details of the texts Corso comes across. I kinda like a protagonist sitting at a computer and compiling notes on a project, it seems.

I’m loving the weirdness of JV’s vision. From how much original Dungeons and Dragons relied on JV’s magic system, to the fact that Dr Frank N Furter making a vat-grown being would 100% fit in.
