The sex is getting ridiculous. They're not bonding. He's relieving himself on her. That's not why I read historical romance. I can watch porn for that. And she just goes along with it!!!
I just want to book to end now. I'm thinking of skipping to the last page rather than read more sex receptacle scenes

It's getting silly now. I hoped it wouldn't delve into the silly.
It was bad enough that Minnie's story wasn't revealed until 70% but now this crap about choosing his brother over his wife. I don't even understand why it's necessary when the magistrate already admitted Stevens is twisted. I don't care about that anyway.

Ok the dive made the reconciliation all the better. I love that Robert isn't a rake but he's not stupid either. The wedding night was awesome. No fantasy but a real encounter for a virgin.
I was really enjoying the honeymoon so I was pissed when this new crisis popped up to end it. I know it was foreshadowed but it's a romance damn it. Time for romancing!

After that completely unromantic proposal and the visit from the dowager duchess and Lydia being extra, this book took a serious dive

They haven't gotten anywhere with the storylines. It's just endless "my gift, i love her, what am I gonna do, war".
This is supposed to be a series but why would anyone read the next book?

Ok so far. Princess Amaranthine is annoying but I get the feeling she's supposed to be. Why not Princess Mara?
I hope the investigation goes somewhere and she doesn't just sit around whining about it for the next 30 chapters

I dunno what list recommended this book and I'm not even sure how I feel about the recommendation. I gotta find out what happens though

Boring boring boring
Using the governor's perspective is boring. I have no idea what's going on because he doesn't. Ok but why take so long to give his back story? I could've been connecting with the governor instead of wondering why everyone was so disdainful. It wouldn't have seemed like an info dump when they finally explained why the doctor was there.

So we finally get to the climax of the book, It's time for action and instead there's a lot of sitting around. If this were a movie MST3K would break out the reverb for Deep Hurting. It's ridiculous! They keep talking about Matthias but have made NO MOVES to look for Matthias. Really? NOW is the moment to finally talk to his mother? I want to slap every single one of them

Finally some action! And a confrontation! It was a page turner for a brief shining chapter.
But who needs that crap. Back to the teen angst. Now that Danny has a boyfriend, every boy so inclined wants a kiss. Didn't see that coming *eye roll*

I didn't realize this was a teen romance full of emo nonsense so here we are. I get so tired of Danny agonizing about stuff and not saying anything! I'm tired of them mentioning stuff and not explaining.

I already know I won't be continuing with the series. It's hard to continue with the book.

I don't know how to measure progress.

I don't enjoy choose your own adventure books anymore. Buzzkill. I wanted to like this but I don't.
It's amusing but all the flipping around is not.

i don't know if they're leaving a lot to innuendo or if they really were this uptight. it's hard to care tho. before she was married, she wrote love letters to a suitor. AND??? it's the equivalent of "do you like me yes or no" and two marriages are about to be ruined because of it. ok

I might 1 star it anyway since half the dialogue is "Oh Helen." "My dear Cecilia." "My dear child." I will have to read Pride and Prejudice after this. Only Miss Elizabeth Bennett can purge this from my head.

It's gotten really silly now. I know Helen is supposed to be a country girl but her behavior is mind boggling. Who does that? Lady Cecilia is just as bad. This reminds me of the silliness of House of Mirth. If neither of them dies, I will 1 star this book.

it's uber boring. trying to show a budding relationship but it's not working. i don't care about him or her. the ever changing librovox readers aren't helping. I wish one person had undertaken it.

right when i start to get into it, they shift time periods and take me out of the story, killing all the suspense

I don't understand her reaction to her marriage. except for the sin, it's exactly what she wanted. AND they make so much of her intelligence and have her act irrationally. and why does she shut everyone out? also illogical to me. introspection makes sense but it was too dour in light of the reasons she said she wanted to get married.

I had to read some spoilers because I was about to give up reading. it's a shame. but I'm resigned to continue.
