I’m just not so sure about this one. The writing is just okay and the character development is lacking… should I push through it?

I’m thinking about ditching this. I absolutely adored the beginning but now that the two stories are separated, I’m not feeling it. Do the two stories cross paths again?

I'm feeling the need to ditch this book. It is so painstakingly slow and the world building just isn't there. Readers - should I push through?

Me: This book is weird
Husband: What is it about?
Me: An alien invasion like body snatchers and the human-aliens think they are still humans. I'm only a quarter in and that's my guess"

10 minutes later
Me: This book is strange.
Husband: Why?
Me: The boy falls in love with a girl instantly.

10 minutes later
Me: So weird!
Husband: What now?
Me: A 5 year old is training to be soldier! He just needs a hug.

Another 4+ star reviews that's been on my library's ebook wishlist for a while. I'm probbaly just getting myself into another 50 Shades/Beautiful Bastards/Fixed on You/Bared to You/alpha male in suit generic story. I'm such a masochist to put myself through these stories.

I'm listening to this on a 4.5 hours drive from Buffalo to Albany. The voice actor has the most ridiculous voice for Bennett but she doesn't have a lot to work with in terms of his dialogue. This is so cringe-worthy that it's funny. At least I'm entertained.
