What a fabulous concept for a story: an old man comes to a small town and buys the portraits of people in a coffee shop and meets with the person in the portrait to give it to them. Building community and getting to know the town along the way.

The storyline is unique, but I'm going to have to wait until I'm over the flu to read about food flavors like this!

He keeps reminding me of "Blumpo the grumpo" from a picture book my son used to like.

This book is so fun to read! Each essay is centered around one of her songs and that song is listed at the top of the essay, so I'm reading with the song I'm reading about on repeat. And it's caused so much crying.

I almost screamed when I saw this book at the library today. Sinead was one of the bravest souls who ever lived. She touched so many lives in such profound ways with her music and politics and I am psyched to read the rest of this. With her music on repeat, of course.

This book is fascinating. I love it. The perfect follow-up to my "Uncomfortable conversations" book because it gives right in to the issues that come up in my industry (psychotherapy) when working with any oppressed population. It's great.

I clearly didn't read the title closely when I put this book on hold, because usually, the word God in the title is a no-go. I'm not anti-God, but it isn't something I read about. But trust is my profession (attachment therapy) and that puts me in a bind. I'm trying here, but there is a lot of scripture.... and just when I think that, she comes in with a bunch of science. Dammit.

I've been into these music/Hollywood insider memoirs lately, and this one is pretty fun so far. When it came off my holds list, I was like, "who is this guy and why did I want to read/ listen to this book?" but, for instance, I loved The Eagles growing up, and he just got done talking about spending time with and interviewing them when they were still "Eagles" and there was no "the".

I got the physical book from the library and it's so cute and small, so it's going to be my "while I'm out in the world waiting for someone" book until it's due.

I can't believe how interesting this is. I keep thinking about the Egyptian bones with the little holes in them from TB - "like coral". And the people in poor countries who get their appetite back when they take the medicine, but FOOD ISN'T CONSIDERED TREATMENT so there isn't funding for it at the clinics and people quit treatment because they can't stand the hunger pain. 😭😭😭😭😭

I saw the movie last week and didn't realize it was a book. I'm actually glad U saw the movie first because now I understand the story and this is just fleshing it out.

I was just about to return this to the library since I still hadn't read it and I was running out of renewals, when I decided to read the first few pages to see why I'd picked it up to begin with. It's a young woman writing about her experience fighting in the Russian Ukrainian war. And it's pretty good so far. I guess I'll read it tomorrow!

It's all written in Homer-like poetry. I got the audiobook (and the actual book) so I could listen to the author read it aloud.
