Political context until about the 2nd section - once I realized this was a far future/post apocalyptic scenario it makes more sense.
Unfortunately the FMC is fairly unsympathetic- maybe she grows on you once you are out of the bad professor part.

This bookies so good written by a nonverbal author from many points of view! I’m listening to the audio and in line for the book but I doubt I can hold off for the book to arrive.

Meh - the banter is pretty goofy - grumpy/sunshine. I can feel a single room/single bed coming.

Trying to reacquaint myself with the Port William Series so that I can read Marce Catlett. Agrarian life as told by a younger brother. Listened to a good audiobook that had originally been cd’s - I remember the days.

I love this book so much!

Listening and I can tell I do not want to finish - next thing I know - I’ve listened to 2 hours. Young mother in a family of 3 generations of single moms wants more and leaves for 10 hours, 10 days…her writing about experiencing nature fully for the first time was really engrossing. I find myself unable to pull away even as I dislike the narrator.

Good, twisty, maybe too twisty? All narrators are unreliable.

This book is good - and sad. About a marriage that is at its breaking point during COVID in NYC & the couple escapes to their house in Maine.

I think maybe this 2nd book should have been a few extra chapters in book one. Not that I begrudge an author a 2 book deal - but there is a lot of rehash, repetition and so many names of the ‘family’. I’m sure this will be good on small screen.

So did I just read 143 pages of rehash of first book? Ok maybe 100?

I’m loving this book. I love the FMC. Surprised by how many people didn’t id with her. To me this is soooooo much better than another lesbian astronaut book I read. I think it’s because there is more to this story. Especially indigenous peoples voices, coming of age, I listened to audiobook while completing some home projects- but might shift to a borrowed physical copy

I am loving this book. The coming of age pov in this book is so much better than my experience with My Friends. Also , so far THIS is the best lesbian astronaut book I have read 😉

Don’t love the voice of the FMC - literally or in the novel as a whole. She seems a bit young, bratty. The sibling dynamic is not that developed.

I super wish I hadn’t started this audiobook.
These women are terrible - I feel like they all deserve whatever they get. I’m praying something else comes up in Libby so I can quit it 🫠

Terrible - the subject of this book is just so terrible. In the first chapter I hated the m c so much that I can’t believe I continued - what I thought would happen did and now it just keeps on being terrible in prison. Reading for Bookclub

This s a 230 page book that reads much longer. Why - there are only 8 chapters but they are so long. Like I only have 2 chapters left & im not sure I care.

Really enjoying the audio version

Read first chapter & definitely want to revisit this in book format from library! Must return as too many on my immediate TBR

Picked back up after a hiatus and am living for morning read!

This book is breaking my heart. Listening to the well narrated audiobook. I started reading the follow up book without knowing it was a sequel. Decided to go back & listen to book 1. I’m glad I did. Very contemplative. I can tell it will be the creation and destruction of a family. It is sadly beautiful. I had never heard of this author.

There are some good tips from a ADHD adult and his wife. Listening to the audio- at times a bit cheesy - but also some great perspective.

This book is so great - I had put nonfiction away for the summer I guess but am so glad to be diving back into this thoughtful book (50%)
