This is going to make me sound sexist, but how is not being acknowledged how rare it would be to have so many women in positions of power in 1972? And how do you have a detective who only needs to work one case in such a tiny town? Is she supposed to be in charge? If not, where is the person she's supposed to be reporting to, because she's making some questionable choices.

I know you need a character with curiosity to make the plot proceed, but this lady seems to have no sense of self preservation.😄

Well, ain't that a deal? For my first book in this series, I'm reading #19. I doubt that it matters. This is pretty entertaining and fast moving. Happy March Mystery Madness.
