This book was OK. I was hoping for something more emotional, but the narrator was so detached not only from his own story, but also the point of the book: dealing with post WW2 guilt over the Holocaust. It seemed that he really didn’t care about anything, but it also didn’t seem like any existential probing.

This is a good read for people who are thinking about or already live in a foreign culture. It’s also good for intercultural trainers/consultants who want a clear picture of the different ways people integrate (or not). Lots of references included for further reading.

Low key, subtle book. Not as poetic as Kent’s The Good People, but I still liked it. Don’t read it in winter! Too cold! Like the family at Kronsa, I became quite attached t to Agnes.
