The pacing is a bit too slow, but I'm enjoying the story, but God all of Silla and Jonas interactions are bad clichè + cringe + ridiculous behavior + red flag, please tell me this thing between them will be over soon.

This family desperately needed Sophy, both Cecilia and Charles are making wrong choices that without Sophy’s interference would bring them a lifetime of regret and unhappiness

It's so bad I need to skim through those scenes or they'll put me off from reading.
It won't be endgame, on the romance aspect the potential is with Rey.

P.S. Why doesn't Silla simply buy a new cloak if she knows hers is recognizable?

First thoughts:
Silla seems an ok fmc...? nothing that makes me like or dislike her so far, a pretty standard fmc.
The story has promise.

Does Eugenia really think she can use her fauxs politeness that masks bitchness with Sophy? Has she not figured out yet that Sophy is a master and, still remaining honest, can work any situation and conversation and come out on top? Witty, deft, determined and feisty, Sophy is a queen!
(love how Charles started the converstion angry with her and she disarmed him to the point he ended up being the on to apologize XD)

I really don't know how I'll rate it, because I like the story, I love the family moments and the drama with the mmc, his sister and his nemesis, but I don't feel anything for the main romance, they are cute together but I don't feel the chemistry so the spice is just cringy to me.

ALEX: Heard you’ve been making out with your new wife.
MILES: I’m sure you did.
CLEM: When are we going to meet her?
ALEX: We’re meeting her at dinner on Friday, obviously.
MILES: No, we’re opting out this week.

It always rubs me the wrong way when in marriage of convenience, the people who know the marriage has a motive and there's no real bond there, are from the get go, "you are what he/she needs" or making innuendos... As a reader, I know they'll fall in love, but a character inside the story talking to this person who is only temporarily marrying someone as part of a deal... I find it weird.
Apart from that, nice start

She really is great. Such an icon. And the way she turned the conversation around Charles to the point he didn’t even know what he was supposed to be angry about anyomore? Art.

I really don’t know what I feel like reading so I’m going with this since it’s short, also, many times I stumbled on bad urban fantasy but this one seems ok, and I hear the series gets way better from book 2 on, so like it or dislike it I’ll have taken this off the tbr and be ready for when I feel like going with the second one

Damn Yasila is remarkable. Such an interesting badass character.

Cain and Tala were still arguing about which of them would take the throne,but it would be Ruko, Neema was sure of it. He had the ruthless ambition, the focus, the self-control. Most of all,the need. Sacrificing his sister had left him with no choice—he had to win, or else he had killed her for nothing
What he did was chilling and he'll never be a likable character, but I can't deny he seems an interesting one

Thank God for this book that saved me while I couldn't find a romantasy to get into

I've been discarding one book after another in the last few days in a "disappointed, can't get into anything, every book feels the same and shallow" mood (harsh I know), this is the first one that seems really interesting... I'm begging you book!

P.S.1 looking at friends reviews this was either a 5 stars or a dnf 🫣

P.S.2 what was done to Yana is monstrous. Her brother is loathsome.

Arabella’s brother gambling storyline is the only thing I find a bit boring and not very engaging, everything else is spot on historical romance, Arabella and Beaumaris work perfectly together and his dry sense of humor kills me.

But I'll say, don't come for me, this book did NOT need to be this long. In this middle part the plot, that I really like, is being too diluted; there are some really interesting moments (the Other/Kaan scene!) but also a lot of fillers. And can Raeve just tell Kaan stuff, please it's getting annoying

The words are still echoing as I look at the floor and close my eyes, certain that no words have ever torn me so clean open.
Have ever bled me so fucking dry.

Finally some truths are coming out. I want Kaan to know what happened! Since the readers already know, can we please hurry up on telling him too?!

The suffering that really hits me is the one of the dragons.
And it brings up the same thought I had reading the first book: I'm not crazy about how egg stealing is painted. Our mcs love their dragons and their bonds are real and beautiful, but still… it’s literally stealing babies from their mothers…
P.S. All I want from this series besides dragons health is Raeve, Kaan and Kyzari being together.
