I have been obsessed with Darkness Births the Stars for a month, it satisfied my need for fantasy, but I'm in a slump, I want to read but nothing calls to me, I need something that can keep my attention so I'm trying this. I don't expect it to be at the level of DBtS or for a mmc that nears Belekoroz level (top tier), for now I have entertaining but not a standout vibes and I would take entertaining

So the way to cure her ptsd and fear of dying is to lie on train tracks and roll away moments before the train arrives? This is not just dangerous for you idiots but also for the people inside the train.
Other adrenaline seeking stuff they did were fine, but the train thing pissed me off
I feel 0 chemistry in the romance but the story was fine before, now...

I still don't think there's much chemistry, but it's an ok book

like the story, but I'm not feeling the chemistry between the mcs.
It's fine, I'm complaining over nothing, but it really is true that after finding an amazing book you're still obsessed with after a month (Darkness Births the Stars) it's always a string of average.

The mysteries are still good but this won't rate 4 stars as the others I think, the story took a turn for a portion of the book (that I hope it's over now) I'm not crazy about and I think brings inconsistencies and stupid decisions.

unfortunately the novella didn't interest me into reading the whole series but this book sounded like the most charming one and for now it seems like I was right

I feel like a change of genre might be on the horizon, but not yet!

And men like him, men who think they have capital-D Destinies, who think God Himself is personally invested in their success, like He has nothing better to worry about than some politician’s stock portfolio, they can’t ever lose. It’s always gotta be someone else’s fault, and if it’s a woman they can blame? Well, hallelujah, because that’s even better.

In a historical romance mood (even if the covers are terrible)

She didn’t want to need anything, particularly something—or someone—she quite simply couldn’t have. Too much had been taken from her already, and she’d had enough of accommodating pain, of straightening her spine, of soldiering on.
And that was the danger in kisses. Or at least the sort he’d given her.

It's not a perfect book, but the mystery is so engaging, creepy and with so many questions, it's impossible to stop

the cover of this book is really bad 🫣​ but the book iself seems enjoyable

Maybe I'm the problem, it's always difficult to get invested in a new book after a great 5 stars read.
But this is so cringe and not good.

He's a menace and never can behave 🤣​

So much for thinking I could find a place here among them. The moment something I did was wrong in their eyes, they turned against me. I would never be welcome here.
Even if I tried, I always failed. Too easily tempted. Too weak.

My heart breaks for Belekoroz. We know he'll end up causing a war but you can see everyone always thought bad of him on prejudices and so pushed him to isolate himself even more.

She was still afraid this was a terrible mistake.
A part of her wanted me, yes, but all the doubt, all the pain that lingered between us eclipsed that desire.
I would never be satisfied with only a part of her.
I craved it all. Her body, her heart, her soul. Now and forever. It had to be her decision. Even if I had to wait a thousand mortal lifetimes for her.

Letting all my shields fall away was temptingly easy with him. An offer. To become one completely once more.
