Been a great weekend for reading; always happy to cleanse my palette with some John Irving

I was expecting goblins running around hovels hitting each other with sticks but it’s actually a parlour drama about political intrigue and abuse. Good tho

There’s nothing particularly wrong with this and on a technical level it’s achieving everything it’s trying to; unfortunately, I can’t really be bothered to read it. There’s something about the prose that is just so uninteresting to me but I’m not sure how else you would write a story that also serves as a paelophilic (is that a word?) info dump.

Such a sharp juxtaposition between two distinct eras; been a pleasure learning more about poetry in the last 8 weeks

So you’re telling me that King Arthur’s dad had sex with his mother whilst in disguise as her first husband? And at the same time, her actual husband was being killed on a battlefield? That’s how King Arthur was conceived? And Merlin was outside the door listening? That’s what we’re going with?

Cool af concept

I watched treasure planet with onnee last night and then picked this up to read today. I didn’t realise that treasure planet is essentially the exact same story (except with aliens) so I’m a bit pissed off that I’ve ruined it for myself. Been looking forward to this for ages
