Anne Carson’s words remind me that it’s possible to contain that which is seemingly to big and too intense to hold.

Autobiography of Red

Rebecca
Rebecca is reading The Complete Poems of Emily Dickinson
learned about variants in American Lit a while back, realizing this is my main motivation for reading Dickinson (will help with exploring interiority and its expression), not sure if I'm a fan of the rhyme scheme (feels cliché, but maybe that's a personal bias?)

need a focused question to better work through Dickinson's poems

The Complete Poems of Emily Dickinson

Rebecca
Rebecca is starting The Complete Works: Alfred, Lord Tennyson
I spent time with “Ulysses” today. Based on Tennyson’s biography, I think my desire to explore the relationship between innocence and identity looks promising. Small note: I’m surprised at how quickly Victorian-era writers are growing on me. I was convinced that I would always be a devout American Lit fanatic, but I suspect this will change (i.e. is changing).
