i’m intrigued to see how Lee goes through the novel. right now he seems to exist “outside” this east of eden / genesis retelling. i don’t know if it’s because he’s considered a foreigner by the land (barred out of the narrative cycle imposed on those that live here) or if steinbeck is trying to make a comment

ASAM YOU MAKE ME SICK

oh cathy my lovely cathy

steinbeck and i need to have a fireside chat. i love his position as a quasi-omniscient character in his own novel. is john steinbeck god in his own novel?

book designed to piss me off

“and because he had no family or loved ones to mourn his passing, it was Stoner who wet when the casket was lowered, as if that weeping might reduce the loneliness of the last descent. Whether he wept for himself, for the part of history and youth that went down to the earth, or whether for the poor things figure that once kept the man he had loved, he did not know.”

the william-edith failmarriage is really sexy and hot to me. i don’t think john williams intended for that’s

i’m waiting for you to do better

ray nayler… don’t fumble this… u can become the next big name in sci fi w a book like this

(reread) — i think i haven’t heard a lot of people talk about how harari’s text / narrative is based more on conjecture rather than active archeological fact (not bad, really, but important to point out)

this book got me needing a drink and a smoke like a motherfucker
