Obviously this isn't Manacled, but the way this book is handling the sexual slavery element is so gratuitous and uncomfortable. It's too much and just making me hate Draco because he doesn't need to take it this far to be believable. As for the sex club in Edinburgh Castle - lol and ew.

Finally getting around to trying this again after DNF'ing six months ago because Hermione was doing cartwheels in her cell 😂 Tbh been sucked right in and really enjoying now, but it's very grim and needing to alternate between this and Howl's Moving Castle to prevent self-inflicted reading trauma.

Draco and Hermione being little swots together doing their arithmancy homework in the library is giving me everything 🥰🥰

Ughh this book is absolutely massive and I'm living for it. Currently onto Prisoner of Azkaban era. This is wholesome, fun, plot-driven. So much fun!! Can't wait till I'm caught up so I can comment with the other dramiones on AO3 🥺🥺

It might look like I'm taking a break from Dramione but I'm actually not because Coriolanus is basically Draco.

This might be the most toxic Draco so far. Pulling out some Hardin Scott moves that are making me shudder. Why are you smashing bottles? Why are you being randomly, nastily jealous? This is not the self-assured, aristocratic, reflective man I know! Do quite like the cafe/opera/ballet vibes and I prefer it being too angsty than too simple like Soft As It Began.

Frequent sexual moments that feel completely out of context. You're in potential mortal danger and you're thinking about someone's crotch against your butt? Semi colon misuse and a misspelling of "Dursely (sic)" also quite grating.

So far, eh. Compared to The Disappearance of Draco Malfoy and DMATMOBIL, the writing is really subpar.

A lot of clunky passages, heavily reliant on telling rather than showing. Hate the use of present tense.

Plot I'm enjoying well enough but not the execution.

I wish I could read this book over and over again for the first time 😩😩😩 Why hasn't the author released anything else?!

Fifth of the way through this book and it still feels like the beginning. No real thing driving the plot forward. No character I particularly like. Close to DNFing.

This is so much more than was sold to me. Not just a simple SJM extension of a fae romance. A lot better written and executed. Jude fmc actually has a personality. Is this really YA? It's so dark!

This is what I needed. Been on my tbr for ages. In contrast to A Sorcery of Thorns, the world building is so much more developed, characters far more interesting, pace is swift. Enjoying more than I thought I would. However Cardan sucks and I know he's the bully romance love interest so not sure how I'm going to stop hating him!

And once again, tasting blood! I can understand that blood is a part of the magic system, but do the characters really need to get enthralled by the taste of blood? "He tastes like power, apples, whatever, whatever." It's so off-putting and it happens in every single book of this series! I don't want to know what all the male characters' blood tastes like! It's not necessary!

Why are Garber's characters obsessed with tasting each others blood?! This is becoming a common theme.

So far lots of summary and recount of book 1 - go faster!

Dnf for now but intend to come back to it when I have more brain capacity. Loved loved the opening scenes but then many chapters after that felt like loooong dialogue talking about what people planned to happen. I will try again later because I feel like I would like it but it just didn't grab me right away.
