Okay, a little under the 7 hr mark for the audio, or before getting 30% in, the part of history where the Roman Catholic idea of the pope is discussed more. Much appreciated 👏. The author did state the overall goal is to focus on the historical timeline. However, he did a state few things in scripture debunking how the Roman Catholic church looks at Peter.

I do appreciate a bigger portion of explaining the Trinity is given and why the Church needed to make the Trinity clear. Some of the explanations I find confusing. Focusing on the "personal" aspects instead of Person. Almost saying God could be a Person and 3 Persons - um, what? Also, from my understanding, there was a main idea of the Trinity way before Nicene. The council shared what the Church already believed.

Ok...using gnostic writings, such as the Gospel of Thomas, as a source, isn't very credible...

Major problem with "Christianity" meaning a number of different beliefs. When the author says, "putting doctrine aside," we immediately have a red flag. Doctrine determines between what is true, mostly true, and utterly false. To not distinguish true Christianity, and say these countries accepted Christianity- does not mean they actually accepted true Christianity. If it's another Gospel, another Christ, it's false.

I appreciate the author did clarify the view of penance caused a division because not everyone agreed. And this is what emerged indulgences.

Definitely called the Catholic church Christian. Also, really weak on the Apocrypha. The reason most reject it is because of the lack of copies and whole documents.

Odd Stephen is discussed before Pentecost, and then backtracked. Almost sounded like because of Stephen Christianity became big... no, Pentecost happens early in Acts 2, Peter preached and 3,000 were saved. Stephen happens in Acts 6.

When discussing the trials of Christ, King Herod is skipped. Parts of the cross seemed skipped over - the criminals, being mocked, etc.

Not far in, and Catholic worship of Mary (as well as Orthodox) was mentioned as a "Christian tradition," that's not a tradition.

When discussing Christ's teaching and the Pharisees, as well as Sadducees, the view was looked upon more of- if He causes a revolution, the leaders would lose their positions. But really, it was about if Christ was the Son of God, then their positions aren't needed. And Jesus is.

The discussion about Synod of Dordt sounds biased. Also, the explanation of why Johan van Oldenbarnevelt was beheaded is not explained. During this time church and state are NOT separated. So religion is tied to political moves. Johan is behead as a traitor because he represented the Arminian belief. For more info see: https://www.gotquestions.org/Synod-of... And earning salvation through works is NOT grace.

Working on Fault Lines by Voddie Baucham, You’re Not Enough and that’s ok by Allie Stuckey (going through this twice, technically.), I started an audiobook on Tolkien and C. S. Lewis regarding how war affected their writing. About to finish These Happy Golden Years by Laura Ingallas Wilder. And.. of course still going through BSC.
