This is definitely one of the weirder Anne Rice books. Having recently watched The Mayfair Witches has helped my understanding.

I am enjoying this immensely, and I'm surprised it didn't get more hype amongst sci-fi readers when it came out.

Wait a sec THEY'VE HAD PHONES AND PLANES THIS WHOLE TIME?! Me thinking this was like a Middle Ages technology fantasy...

Why can't all books be this good???

3.75 rounded. It took halfway to get into this collection, as it came across linear through the author's mid-to-late twenties. Halfway through, the pandemic happened and all that partying and sleeping around turned into alcoholism and mental illness. It was interesting to see the poet mature in their talent.

Part Bladerunner, part Ocean's Eleven, but in Korea. COOL.

I have sacrificed much sleep and hygiene for this book 😂

4.5 rounded. Plenty of good plot twists here, though I didn't always know why were on a quest. As always, loved the complex characters.
If that epilogue means anything... There HAS to be a fifth one in this series. And yes, I think it's time for a female paladin to have a turn. 🤫

Ugh this is horrific.

I am once again not a huge fan of Chupeco's writing style, but the combination of slow world building and antihero energy is great brain candy for me.

Uugghh can the romance bit be over yet?

Woo, fitting for election season. I wonder if I might have enjoyed this more if I read it rather than listened, though the narrator is doing a good job differentiating characters and voices.

Although slow, this is quite lovely and well written. It's like watching Bridgerton, but with forbidden magic.
