Currently having popcorn, reading about Orwell (gently and considerately) bash Tolstoy for his bashing of Shakespeare. It's very intense!

Raoul is really annoying me. The whole running away thing is getting kinda frustrating!! But for god's sake can this man be patient and listen? Kinda liked Christine for telling him just because he worries doesn't give him a right to anything, but then he cries and we're back the first pitying place. 😪

I hardly remember, at least recently, that I had so much care, and sympathy and empathy for a character more than I do now for Werther. I thought of him as a beautiful person, and even as it started to change like a rose turning dark, I still truly feel for him!
What a great writing!

I liked the book the more it goes forward and the deeper into each character, but...Omg, wth!!! Everyone is in love with each other!!!

Omg, every time he threatens her that he's gonna be furious and angry and she should know better than to challenge it (god forbid she says something the /kid/ doesn't like), I wanna throw the book at the wall!
I'm not trying to be super feminist or anything but god, why do women always have to be the patient ones?!

Wow, back when this was written, people didn't know there were different blood types. The ABO system hadn't been discovered until 1901.

This is so hard for me to read, since i feel myself resonating with Tereza in a way and also, can't seem to understand and accept Tomas' way. I don't understand how he wants to have everything all at once, not caring whether it hurts anyone, just because Tereza can't seem to leave him. Love is just awfully complicated.

There are so many unnecessary explanations.
Even if the author is trying to explain things that help give an imagination of that time, he needs to connect them better.
Basically feels like I'm reading so many things I didn't ask for nor really needed to know, in this much detail.

داشتم میگفتم که بعد یک سالی که به این کتاب برگشتم، لحن نویسنده برام یکم زیاد متعصب و بدبینه.
ولی خب، یه خوبی‌ای که بدبینی داره اینه که تو رو به شک میندازه، حتی درباره‌ی چیزهایی که تا اون لحظه واقعیت محض می‌دونستی.

The Kino story was definitely one of the more capturing and one of the strangest ones!
But uh... Why are all the women in every story sleeping around? It's like Murakami tries to tie this idea to women that they have a thing that makes them lie easy and sleep around and it's just what they do and who they are.

First story done and...who said Murakami's short stories weren't as good?!
Ironically, the first story "Drive My Car" was exactly on the exact subject I've been wondering about for a while.

Third book done.
I'm starting to think they talk way too much...
