I read a few chapters last night. So far the writing is a bit young, I didn’t think this was for a younger audience, especially seeing as things look like they might get spicy. We’ll see. It’s made me laugh a couple times.

…continued: I’ll admit, the situation could have turned out the same way, just in a more realistic way. It felt rushed and put there just to further the plot, to create angst. Typical theme for some romance books, it happened with the SLD.

This is where I stopped before. He could have said so much. Yes, his thoughts would have gotten in the way, but not so much that he wouldn’t get anything in and she would leave thinking the completely wrong thing. Not unless the plane was about to take off, or something drastic happened that kept him from saying anything at all. That wasn’t miscommunication or assumptions, just bad writing. Continued…

Something that has irritated me both times through this book is that other than the fact that Lucas‘s visa is ending, there is really no reason that he needs to go back to Spain and can never come back. They make it seem like it’s a complete end and nothing can ever happen once he’s gone. She could visit him, they could plan for the future, he could come back with a different visa, so many things.

Poor writing, quite a bit of crappy foreshadowing that gets revealed within the same page or a little later, telling instead of showing, opportunity writing I guess I could call it. Things are just stated, they’re not connected or led up to, they’re just placed there and then written about. I’m getting some laughs at least.

I’ve gotta say, I’ve been to a mega church before and the book described the experience spot on. Welcome committee, coffee bar, feeling like you’re at a concert, crazy lights and an overly loud praise band. Slightly cultish feeling.

I am liking it more the second time around, I have passed the part where I slowed down last time. I have the same issue with this as the Spanish Love Deception. I loved the book up until the couple started to accept their feelings. It’s like the characters and the dynamic of the book completely changed. I’ve been very excited for this book since the SLD. But it is going in the same direction as that one did.

Seriously? We’re introduced to Jono, nothing wrong with him, seems okay, just didn’t need that tidbit about his job in a romance book... that is probably marketed to women… I can tell this was written recently. I’ll give the book the benefit of the doubt and hope it’ll be cute and not go downhill. It’s a free read from kindle so I can’t complain too much!

I read through this book almost completely in a day or two. Never got around to finishing it even though I only had a couple chapters left! I started it over again today.

Someone said it gets better in book two. Please tell me when! So far it’s getting worse. Almost every sentence makes me want to rip my brain out. I don’t know if a veil has been lifted and it’s been this bad the whole time, or if I’m just fed up so everything is sticking out to me.

I’m not even two pages into the chapter and I want to scream out of frustration. Please help me.

It’s almost like the author had snippets of dialogue and scenes in her head, put them in chronological order, forgot to connect everything and actually write the book, and then published it.

This book is getting so frustrating. The writing was only a little bad when it started, but I swear it steadily got worse as the chapters went. Information is just thrown out, like a smack in your face. No lead up, no showing the story, no progression, just bam! It doesn’t flow. It doesn’t fit. It’s just dropped in and she continues on. It could be the smallest things, or big events, doesn’t matter.

It’s one of thooose books. Well, this is going to be one heck of a cringe fest.

Although, I thoroughly enjoyed The Bride Test and wanted to read more from Helen Hoang, I was never interested by this book. A YouTuber I watch often gushed over this so much that it made me wonder if I would actually enjoy it despite the premise. Let’s see!

I am in cuteness overload! Oh, who am I kidding. There’s no such thing. Must keep reading. I have been devouring this book, it’s so good.

I haven’t updated because every time I think of the book, I need to read it. This book has been amazing and it completely envelopes you as you read. It is getting hard to read, in a good way. It’s tough, but so well written. I can’t express my thoughts about it well enough. It is a must read. I want to savor it but devour it at the same time.

I just saw this book at a bookstore a few days ago and thought, “Hmm that looks familiar and kind of interesting, I wonder if I should take a look.” I ended up not being able to look at all the books I wanted and left before reading the summary. Yesterday I was scrolling through my “to read list” and saw it! Guess I thought the same thing a while back! Time to start!

The dedication! I got National Treasure vibes from the first book, so I’m not surprised the author is also a Nicholas Cage fan.

🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰 I have not been able to put this down at all even to rave about it. It is absolute perfection and I am loving it. I can’t even describe why because the cuteness and perfection overloads my brain 🩷

I’ve noticed that the pacing throughout this book has been very odd. It’ll build up to something for a few paragraphs and then resolve in like two sentences. There are many scenes that should have taken longer and been more explored. I still like the concept though.

Cute and cozy vibes, but it is pretty much your typical modern romance book. Huge, muscular, misunderstood guy and small, oddball girl. I don’t mind that trope too much, but I know some people hate it. It is a little tiresome to see again. The writing is pretty modern.

I like all the mythological/historical ideas integrated in the world. Something is still bother me though. I can’t quite place it, but it’s making it hard to read consistently. On the other hand, there is a lot to like and it keeps me interested.

Very insightful book so far! And not just for choir. I do wish it had more “classical” examples in it. It would help a wider range of people and give a broader understanding. Besides that, it contains a load of good information and tips. I have found that learning from a choral perspective has always been very beneficial in any music I play or teach.
