Zernab is on page 19 of 178 of Liberalism and Its Discontents
Fukuyama keeps saying “liberalism” and “classical liberalism” where I think he should be saying centrist liberalism… like positioning this version of liberalism as some neutral stance between the Left and the Right. Sounds like centrist perspectivr

If I could find an audiobook of this to supplement with my readings of it, I could speed up the progress :/

Omg i’m just about done and ready to review this. Overall it will be good but also have some complaints, maybe my expectations were too high for total amount of history encompassed here

Lauren has convinced me that the narration of this book has undertones of self righteous-ness that can become a turn off from the good content of it :/ I still like it overall though, lol

Even skimming this entire monster sized book is taking hours haha, I think I'm almost there though.

Despite this book feeling a little too opinionated to me at times, as well as too detailed during other times, it's filling in a lot of gaps in my historical understanding/timeline for the war in Afghanistan by exposing me to some important names and events

Lol tell me why he called the entirety of the city of Karachi “an impoverished, unfriendly city”.

Sure this book has good information but it is also highly opinionated. I might start skimming if i get too many of these kind of annoying judgement passing lines. I also do not appreciate how long winded Steve can get with the dramatic story telling so far

Just finished the first chapter "On Violence". Decided to skip Sartre's preface for now and get to Mr. Fanon's writing already! (What with the introduction, foreword and preface all just being commentary on the work, I was beginning to get impatient). But I will go back and see what Sartre is yapping about later

I’m at the end of chapter 7…trying so hard to not make this one a DNF :( i want to like it, I can stand the ridiculous amount of storyline plots we have to follow along with, but it seems like everyones storylines are just going by so. Agonizingly slowly ugh 😭And it’s bothering me so much that Seymour is autistic and vilified as some ecofacist??? I will at least try to get halfway

Also…like Edwarn? Mr suit? Why is he the same character type as Straff Venture from era #1, the Evil Antagonist father

Why does wax remind me of like. An allomantic batman or something, I don’t really find his character likeable…like out of him and wayne and marasi and steris i think I like marasi and steris a lot more than any of them, Steris the best for where I’m at in the series now. Mistborn era #1 was much darker but better than era 2 in my opinion so far. The western spin didn’t make me like this series any better tho

Haven’t read all of it, picked up mainly for Mistborn: Secret History because I needed more Kelsier Stories after finishing Hero of Ages😫
