I’m 40% in and I still don’t know what the main plot is. She’s horribly bullied and sees ghosts but the ghosts don’t talk to her. Sometimes it’s witty and funny but mostly I just want it to get to the point.

Oh no… I think I’m going to like this book… one chapter in and the world building is phenomenal. Very well constructed and fast paced. Can’t wait to read more.

I don’t know if this book is really good or really bad. It’s a wild fever dream. And still getting darma initiative vibes. Wild man.

It’s a little long winded which is weird for a book with so many 3 minute chapters. Definitely could have been refined. I’m not really sure what direction we’re going. I feel like lost when they find the darma initiative.

Currently my thought is Chloe would like this. I will keep reading to verify but the imagery is very unique and I really like the writing style.

It’s written very monotone. All facts, like a police drama. But watching it and reading are two different things. It’s kind of boring. There’s a lot parts that are long winded and unnecessary too. I thought about not finishing it. But the viewpoint of the little brother is fascinating to me. Currently u think that’s the only saving grace.

It’s a little long winded and repetitive. I’m having a hard time getting through it. And every chapter ends with some version of “if only they knew the truth”. And that’s getting real annoying.

I think the issue is that I really like the concept but the execution is not doing it for me.

So far I’m not really loving it. The world building and magic system haven’t really been explained. Relationships haven’t really been built either. And the chapters are incredibly long without needing to be. Also time is skipping ahead pretty quickly when instead of skipping time we could have had more character development. Just not really feeling it.

…. IM SORRY?! So at the start of chapter 10 her opening line talks about how the gym is like the town, rough around the edges. WHAT?! The only things rough around the edges in this book are Knox and Nash. Everything else is like 5 flipping stars in a small town exactly the issue I had with the last book too. Biggest eye roll ever. Why am I reading this?

In a shocking turn of events, I’m crying over a fictional child’s soccer game. I’m defining a sucker for a happy kid. If anything happens in the next 34% to ruin that kids happiness I am not going to be happy.

Well… uhhh so yeah definitely enjoying the book now. It has eased up on the whole trying too hard thing, and has become a very enjoyable easy read. Is it cheesy? Yeah, but I like queso and a good charcuterie board so it’s fine. Basically it’s a decent lifetime movie.

Knox and Nash, tallulah, silver, justice, Hinkel, sherry fiasco. This town has a police force of 2 people, a library that’s more like a spa with books, the coolest barber shop that ever existed, and ever person we meet has colored or cool hair, piercings and tattoos. Oh and we’re in the south east. I’m a midwesterner so maybe it’s different in the SE but I’ve never heard of a small town like this.

I don’t know why I’m feeling the need to update my progress and thoughts about the book… however, she’s currently describing the small town library… it looks more like a high end spa than a library… this book is a pg-13 hallmark movie. I am calling it now.

The trying too hard to be witty has died down a bit. Other than all of the characters sounding the same, I’m enjoying the story thus far.

First impressions I think the author might be trying too hard to be clever and witty. With that being said I laughed at one of the witty jokes (one of many that occurred within the first 12 pages). Let’s see what happens.

If I had to rate this book right now it would be 2.5. It’s getting old. The spice is minimal and not good enough to be worth it. It’s cheesy but again. Not in a good way. I’m honestly close to DNFing it.

Okay. So he likes the cat and mouse game that’s why he’s stalking her. What about the long term? What happens when she gives and loves him and is okay with it? It’s not stalking then. It’s not a cat and mouse anymore. That’s not what relationships are built on. This book irritates me.
