I think the actual descriptions and meat of the text by the author are at times both too simplistic (such as describing genre) and too obtuse which trying to describe something technical. For it being an ostentatiously beginner book, it urges its aspiring directors to make decisions about things in prep that a moderately competent DP could easily help think through. The DP interviews and pull quotes are amazing.

Well all of the theory has been completed. At some point I may come back around to dive into Chapter 6, but it may just remain a reference point.

Back at it

DNFing at 39%. Fun book, but if I wanted mediocre, soft sci-fi that didn’t take itself too seriously I would pick up another Star Wars novel (which I will probably do eventually).
