Why does every character in this book feel interchangeable and like they’re all in high school?

I read 300 pages, put it down for a month in favor of other reading, and am now trying to finish this 870 page behemoth before the end of the week. Wish me luck.

Tbh I’m not really getting any personality from Erin other than anxious MILF, and Cassie is so bland outside of being the (literally) dirty girl.
“I didn’t have enough time to wash my hands after working in the mechanics shop all day, teehee, aren’t I funny!” And let’s not pretend that their age gap isn’t disgusting. 17 years- give me a break. Just because it’s sapphic doesn’t make it okay.

I’m leaning towards DNF’ing this one….the history is very muddled and unclear. Feels like the author didn’t take the time to properly sort his notes before writing.

No because everything Dr. Dene said about her during their breakup was correct and she’s too emotionally immature to handle it.

I don’t WANT to be a Dune Messiah hater, but this is not nearly as eloquent and captivating as the original Dune, and it shows.
