I read 300 pages, put it down for a month in favor of other reading, and am now trying to finish this 870 page behemoth before the end of the week. Wish me luck.

Tbh I’m not really getting any personality from Erin other than anxious MILF, and Cassie is so bland outside of being the (literally) dirty girl.

I’m leaning towards DNF’ing this one….the history is very muddled and unclear. Feels like the author didn’t take the time to properly sort his notes before writing.

No because everything Dr. Dene said about her during their breakup was correct and she’s too emotionally immature to handle it.

I don’t WANT to be a Dune Messiah hater, but this is not nearly as eloquent and captivating as the original Dune, and it shows.

Finding out that Le Fanu stole this from a woman’s letters to a supernatural investigator/doctor and tbh it makes a lot of sense. No man in the 19th century could have ever hoped to write a sapphic story this well.

Personally, I find it distasteful to argue in favor of giving AI rights when we can’t even manage to do that for the majority of the human population.

Also, Jesus is this writing god-awful. There is literally a point where the author wrote “significant pause” in the middle of a sentence and it somehow wasn’t edited out?

Ughhh this is making me physically cringe. It’s painfully corny.

The writing is so delicate, so exquisite, so beautiful, that it verges on painful.
