Really great so far. Feels like I'm watching some deleted scenes from the film. Loving the backstory being set up. The opening chapter feels like it's a scene that would immediately follow the opening scene of the film. Really interesting to see what the filmmakers left out or changed so far.

Absolutely incredible so far. So many insights and stories from films I never knew Deakins had shot. Loving learning more about his feelings about certain projects and the "why" behind his approach. Have also loved the earlier sections of the book, learning about his upbringing and early documentary films in much more detail.

The first 1/3 of the book was a bit of a slow burn. Felt like I was waiting for this part 2 to happen earlier. Glad now that the two storylines seem like they're finally going to collide soon.
