Ursula Wren is on page 75 of 256 of Why Poetry
This book is helping me scrub my brain of the underfunded-public-school poetry education I received as a kid. I've been writing (bad) poetry since I was a kid, and while I've always been captivated by the craft of language, I have honestly been intimidated by reading "real" poetry — preferring to stick to "literary lyrics" (aka sad bands with lyricists who write better than most). This is helping me overcome that!

Fantastic. If I didn't have to work I would have sat and read the whole thing in one go. I'm hooked.

Wow. Tearing through this book. read half of it today, pretty much. It's very easy to read and I love the style - which is unusual for me because I usually find first person perspective to be anywhere from "meh" to actively annoying to me (something about reading the word "I" several thousand times).

"The anarchist movement, more than any other, must explore this promise [of social liberation via modern technology] in depth. It must thoroughly assimilate this technology — master its development, possibilities, and applications and reveal its promise in humanistic terms. [...] Only anarchism can infuse the promise of modern technology with an organic perspective, with a man-oriented direction."

The audio format for this book is incredibly long, and I’ve only just made it through the history of the Mayfair witches as told by our genial British investigator.

I’m really enjoying the narrative, though if I could have one wish granted it would be a bit less incest... but I guess that’s how these old families really did function back in the day.
