Giving up on this book. By all accounts, it's supposed to be a "comprehensive" history of ancient Egypt. Wilkinson spends a great deal of time detailing the various kings and the construction of the pyramids, but he takes for granted reader familiarity (e.g., he'll rattle off gods by name without ever really explaining the Egyptian religious system or the society's interaction with it), and I find it frustrating.
