Finished Ch 4.

This has been descending increasingly sadder so far. I am curious as to when it will turn a corner. If it gets too much sadder, I may have to wait until later to read it.

I'm overdue for a funny read next.

No idea on the page number as my number of pages differs from this copy but we just finished ch 19. I had forgotten about A. Josephine. That was funny. E laughed too.

Finished Ch 18

This is really great and reads quickly. I am actually reading a paper copy! That feels like a luxury right now.

Read along with Ryker. Just finished Ch 2.

E laughed at the "slate incident". She says she is enjoying this book now. We are ready to start Ch 16.

The text initially drilled into music history and was hard to engage with the content. The audiobook includes audio of the pieces mentioned or demonstrating examples. As the author has shifted to brain related content, the book has improved.

We are on p 147/429 so I think the % may be off somewhat.
Read aloud with E. She thinks its slow and misses that it doesn't have a mystery. I asked her if she knew what had happened to the amethyst brooch before the reveal.. she didn't. But I get that it is very different reading from ger norm. I hope she comes to enjoy it. If not, she is excited about The Hobbit.

I'm struggling to stay engaged.

I really liked the first book in this series. I'm not enjoying this one.

I don't remember anywhere near this level of language in the first book. I will likely finish it but the trash of having a very conservative person act wild at a party with a bunch of strangers when its completely out of character is pushing me toward a DNF.
