Finally trying this series again after setting it down in 2020.

The chapters are so long and the vibes are so weird.

I picked this up as a potential comp for one of my wips. It is kind of ... theoretically funny? Like, I haven't really laughed much, but I See the humor.

I don't know if it's just the mood I'm in or if it's the execution.

I am still really enjoying it, but it's now six o'clock in the book during the summer, but they're worried about the sun setting "soon"? They should have two hours minimum before the sun sets ...

Solid tension and lots of build up leading to a promising scare

Not really spooky yet. I have to wonder if all T. Kingfisher rely more on being disturbing than scary

Unsettling more than spooky so far. I thought it would be a book I'd read in one sitting, but there's not a lot of drive to dive in right now. No reason to DNF it or anything though

The first few chapters gave me major anxiety 😩 but it leveled out and it's been very interesting

I'm a third into the book and there's been only two spooky scenes and now the author just doused the romance? Hmm

Also, why is the font for the letters so small and difficult to read 😩

If I had a nickel for every time an author of a vampire book mentioned it being an October Day AFTER Holloween had already come and gone, I'd have two nickles, which isn't a lot but it's weird that it happened twice.

I find it odd that, when choosing to list two pies, the author chose Boston Cream as one of them ... (note: the sentence calls it a pie specifically, it does not just say "Boston Cream Pie")

Well that escalated quickly.

Two things are bugging me so far:

The ridiculous number of run on sentences.

The ridiculous character names: Slick, Blue, Horse

Picked this up as a Blind Date with a book a while ago and decided to read it because my coworker happened to start it.

I'm barely done with the prologue and my face is already 😐

I feel like I just read 175 pages of info dump 😵‍💫

This book had the misfotune of being the one I was reading when I started playing BG3 and did almost nothing else for six months 😂 So while I wait for Patch 7, I'm making damn sure I finishing it.

This one seems like it might be a more light-hearted cousin to SVSSS
