Kirk Astroth is on page 167 of 288 of Our House Is on Fire: Scenes of a Family and a Planet in Crisis
A wrenching story of a family torn by autism, ADHD, bulimia, anorexia, despair, and bullying. One telling quote for our times: “When you’re use to privilege, equality feels like oppression.”

Kirk Astroth is starting The Radium Girls: The Dark Story of America’s Shining Women
A heart-wrenching recounting of industrial exploitation of young girls in the early 1900’s who were told that radium would not harm them and would in fact benefit them. The cancer, sarcoma and amputations are hard to read about. And the it was still going on in 1978!! An incredible tale of how corporations will exploit workers at any expense and fight in court to deny any responsibility.

Kirk Astroth is starting Scandinavians: In Search of the Soul of the North
An odd book. It starts off well enough with the author on fishing boats headed to Iceland but then devolved into his attempt to demonstrate that all Scandinavians are melancholic, sad, reserved and dark people with little joy. The writer plops a play about Ibsen in the middle of the nonfictional book to what real purpose is unclear.
