Marking this book as paused until I get my hands on it again… if I really want to. I was thrilled when I saw this in the Airbnb I was staying at, I’ve really loved Jhumpa Lahiri’s books so. Current feelings, however, are tepid. I think I felt depressed about my own life (which is going pretty great if I’m being honest). No bueno, folks.

First read of the year let’s goooo! (Conveniently ignoring my other books in progress)

I was finding it terribly amusing that a 10 year old would have words like “perfidious” in her vocabulary… I only now realize that it is not, in fact, a 10 year old’s account of events but that of her older self. Embarrassing

Barely made a dent in this and I already feel sick to my stomach
