Unfortunately, this read is disturbing for so many reasons. Those being the stereotype of ignorant, gender roles and the overbearing to see truth and obvious actions clouded by poor parenting. I see the emotional abuse instilled in David by Ivy & Wyatt’s arrogant parenting. I want to swing a baseball bat at them knowing what the future holds from their abusive molding of their son.

The Half Broke Horse brings the reader back to day long hard work and planning to survive in the late 1800’s & early 1900’s. Reflecting back to my grandparents lives, not having more than an eight grade education & females expected to marry, have babies & keep house. The old west dusty roads, building of America & determination of Lily’s independence, knowledge and fulfillment of her dreams.

Interesting learning more about WWII & life during the Nazi invasion. Life of those living with the atrocities of the time and strength to survive while offering compassion to help the Jews.
