Starting this with trepidation as I have heard ... Mixed reviews. But it's going by fast and so far I think it's interesting and weird and good, even if I don't fully get everything.

Haven't gotten to dedicate too much time to this guy - will try to muscle through some pages this weekend 💪🏼

Was trying to read this all during my flight .... Nope. Head hurt and I always end up daydreaming. But should get this finished through the trip/flight back 🫡 will not read all of Booker longlist before shortlist announcement (tomorrow, lol), but I'm pretty damn happy with what I have read!

Intense. And really really fucking good. Long and still hard to put down.

Had to skim the blackjack section a bit. Rough. I've heard this author is known for (gratuitous?) violence in his books and...yeah. The last bit of that chapter is so visceral and is haunting me. Still, so propulsive. Hard to put down. Eager to keep chewing through this.

Homegirl is making me nervoussssss

Trying to gather my own thoughts as I enter the last quarter. This book is trying to say a lot and often when meaning is shrouded in metaphor, I let myself enjoy the world of it for awhile until the meaning becomes obvious. I'm still struggling to understand what is being said here. I think it is because some of the things I personally ascribe as "good" are being used as symbols of "bad" and vice versa.

This whole "working" thing is really getting in the way of my reading progress 😞 loving this weird book so far
